About IIFT


The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set up in 1963 by the Government of India as an autonomous organisation to help professionalize the country's International Business by developing human resources; generating, analysing and disseminating data; and conducting research. Today, it is one of the premier Business schools in the country and its flagship programme of two year full time MBA in International Business is considered to be the best for International Business. It is a deemed university and comes directly under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, government of India (GOI).

The full time MBA (IB) programme is one of its kinds in the country offering an MBA degree in International Business. With globalization spreading its wings at such a fast pace and India being one of the epicentre in terms of growth, a degree in International business equips the young budding leaders of tomorrow to handle and overcome any International Business issues in a most assured manner. The programme is a general MBA programme where students can major in Finance, Marketing, Trade, IT etc but with an International focus to it.

The programme focuses on the International aspects of the basic courses. There is a separate subject for International Finance, International Trade, International Marketing, and International Economics; International Strategy and Cross country cultural relations are also a part of the course. Every student goes through these courses in the first year after which they can the choose the electives of their choice for specialization ranging from International Brand Management, Financial Modelling, Agri Commodity Trading; Oil and Energy Trading to Contemporary Competitive Strategy. The Course also has a student exchange programme which can be availed by 20% of the Batch. It has tie-ups with universities across the globe from UK, France, Germany, to Australia, USA, Egypt, Vietnam, Thailand and Japan.

The non academic activities at the campus include a Social Awareness Programme, and an in-house Franchise Sports League called UWL which involves a gamut of practical learning from bidding process to an IPO. The Annual Management & Cultural Festival Quo-Vadis is one of the most eagerly awaited Business School events in the country.

IIFT has, over the years, also undertaken path-breaking research studies with organisations like WTO, World Bank, UNCTAD and the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. The Institute has also trained more than 50,000 business professionals across 53 countries in various facets of international business and trade policy via its Management Development Programmes.
